Dominic Mejere is going to Secondary School!

Dominic Mejere just qualified & started secondary school! This is a major milestone. When Dominic was only a year old his father died. A few years later his mother passed away, leaving all 5 kids in the care of a grandmother who brewed village beer and was often times drunk. They lived in a grass thatched and dilapidated house often going hungry and not able to attend school for lack of fees and materials.

When his situation came to our attention we started providing food, clothing, counsel, school fees and shared the good news of Jesus Christ with his entire family. Though now he walks 4 miles (6+km) each way, he is very excited for this opportunity and grateful for the financial support the Passion Center provides. His teachers say Dominic is well behaved, active in class and has a lot of potential

We don’t know what Dominic’s future will be, but we’re glad he’s embracing the opportunities God’s giving him! Your Education gifts provide Dominic and other Passion Students a very different future!  Thank you and please pray for the gifts to provide Education to more kids.

Our second Passion Center site launched at Jali Community Church last month!

Knowing that there are more orphans, widows and vulnerable in villages beyond our original site, we have always felt that God would lead us to start other sites.  We’ve learned that orphans and the vulnerable need a strong, thriving church. Just as the Mulunguzi Community Church anchors and leads the Passion Center in Zomba, we are confident that Jali Community Church (and others) will do the same in their areas.

Here are some details on our new location:

Pastor Madalitso Million is the pastor of Jali Community Church. He was trained for three years by the Passion Center for Pastors ministry (led by Pastor Mark Trotter) while both Abusa Pilira and Saul coached and mentored him. Director Titi’s staff also worked closely with him and his congregation to get started and will continue to assist them. They’ll begin by caring for 20 new orphans, even though 64 orphans and 2 Child Headed Households have been initially identified from the surrounding villages. As these children are sponsored, we’ll begin to care for more.  Would you prayerfully consider sponsoring a Jali Passion Child?

In addition to caring for these orphans, we are anticipating  that other Passion Center ministries will also radiate from Jali Community Church. That’s the unique aspect of joining Passion Center ministries to local churches and pastors we’ve trained and encouraged. We were blessed to have our February mission team present for the launch of this new site and we plan to send more teams as well. Our goal is to help expand the ministry’s reach in the community, reinforce the ministries the church and Passion Center are already doing, and to provide refreshment, inspiration and encouragement to church members as they continue the everyday ministry.

Yes, this is the pattern we hope to follow as God leads us forward - all of our Passion Center ministries linked together to strengthen local churches as they bring God’s grace, truth and healing to places long scarred by death, disease and despair. We’re talking to other PCP churches who want to join this growing Fellowship of Passion Center Churches. In August, we’ll be planting a new church in the Namikongo area! We praise God for these opportunities! Please pray for us and consider sponsoring an orphan, giving to this second site or the upcoming church plant.

Here are few specific things to pray for:

  • Pray for the leadership and staff

  • Pray for sponsors  and support for these new endeavors

  • Pray for the capacity to bring in more orphans and to encourage more widows and the vulnerable

  • Pray for the strengthening of Jali Community Church- that they will have a powerful impact for the gospel in all their surrounding villages

  • Pray that this community is transformed by the grace of God

Your gifts and prayers are much appreciated! Thank you and may God continue to bless and guide you.

“There is a wonderful story unfolding in the villages of’s a story of hope replacing despair!”

This isn’t just a slogan, it’s what we see on a regular basis. More orphans being rescued, more pastors being trained, equipped and making an impact, and more communities hearing the gospel and seeing lives restored. This is God’s fruit born through the faithful service of our staff along with the support, prayers, and contributions of many like you. Here are two encouraging updates:

On March 1st, our second Passion Center site opened with their first 20 Passion Kids. Praise God, all 20 new orphans now have sponsors who are praying for them and making it possible for them to embrace a different story with so many grace filled opportunities!

Initially we identified 64 orphans and 2 Child Headed Households that were in need of sponsors. We’re now seeking sponsors for the next 20 orphans and 2 Child Headed Households and trusting God for His provision. Please consider becoming a sponsor or sharing this opportunity with someone whose heart beats for the same thing - joining God in rescuing, redeeming and restoring orphans and their communities.

We don’t know what is in store for our first 20 orphans, but we are hopeful considering how God’s grace has changed the lives of our other Passion Kids. Some of our previous Passion Kids are now on staff with the Passion Center extending the same hope they themselves experienced!  Irene K., one of the original 30 kids, is now working with the Champions Club (our ministry to special needs children)! That’s a sweet ‘unfolding story’!

The Passion Center Pastors (PCP) ministry also continues to grow. To recap, more than 400 pastors are in a 3 year training program in two different regions! Thanks to some very special gifts, we now have a dedicated truck suited for these travel demands. This is both humbling and amazing; it’s humbling because God has given us an amazing open door to ground village pastors in His Word and to help build and plant strong churches anchored in grace and truth. It’s amazing because some of these pastors will travel 3-5 hours on bicycles or on foot paths just to come to the conferences or bi-weekly training meetings!

We sense that it is time to add a 3rd PCP region to our areas of service. Lord willing, we expect 2-3 churches in this new region to start hosting new Passion Center for Pastors sites in the near future! This is the model we want to follow going forward. Please pray for us as we follow God in this unfolding story and consider giving to help make that possible. Thank you for coming along with us!
