In the rural villages surrounding Zomba, Malawi, a new story is taking hold and being believed. A vulnerable child growing up without electricity, running water or parents can rise to the highest levels of education. It doesn’t matter if you once lacked resources, access, expectations or encouragement to attend Secondary school, let alone College, children like Often Banda now have reason to apply themselves academically. Medical College is no longer a fanciful dream for him, it is a new reality based on God’s Word. The Passion Center believes God intends to raise the poor and needy out of the dust of insignificance and place them in positions of influence and decision. Psalm 113:7-8 describes God in the following way: “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.”
We’ve seen it, we know it’s possible and we rejoice that it’s a unique feature of God’s restorative work. Today, a growing number of once destitute children are reaching the highest levels of education. They are preparing for jobs, posts and professions once all but closed to them. Passion Center orphans are becoming this country’s future teachers, bankers, journalists, professors, community policy makers, financial officers, health care professionals computer experts, and doctors.
Can you imagine hundreds of orphans raised up to educate, lead and care for others? We can, and we invite you to help! As more kids go further in school, our Education costs rise which is something we want to see continue. We need partners to give towards education and others who are able to set up an Education Endowment fund to strengthen this trend. Please consider making a donation celebrating our first 10 years and preparing us for the next 10.
